What people are saying about the Diversity Celebration:
I think it is getting better every year, so just keep it up!
I wish that it could be last for more than just one afternoon/evening. Perhaps, in the future, there could be a 'Diversity Celebration Week' with events spread out (and not overlapping as much as they did this year and last) so that ASU students, faculty, staff, and members of the community would have more opportunities to experience a wider variety of the amazing offerings of the celebration.
I really liked the Native American presentations, work with the Appalachian heritage more to provide local culture. This whole day just put smiles on everyone's faces and there just wasn't enough space for all of the energy! Indian spirituality and spiritual henna experiences would be really cool as well as native American spiritual cleaning rites presentations/experiences would be cool. I'm very interested in Native American culture (as they are my ancestors) and would love MORE! Lots and lots more of what you had!!
All the art forms were great. This year was much bigger than last year you guys did a great job.
I loved it this year though. I wish I could've stayed all day.
This semester the Foreign Language Department has two highly respected poets from Spain teaching as visiting scholars and it would have been great to see them on the agenda. Whenever we have folks of this caliber, it would be great to give the campus exposure to them
Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this comment: I loved the t-shirts and suggest you have them for sale next year. Great fund raiser and continued publicity.
If weather conditions are favorable, I think it would be fun to have Universal Olympics on the Sanford Mall for people to participate in or watch; games from all over the world.
Any and all!! I love that it is a sampling of this and that. I also think it is a good idea to keep inviting back the presentations/dances/music groups/food that are successful--word of mouth will make more folks come next year and they will look for these venues.
I think the only way to improve would be to expand and have more of everything and more different cultures represented.
It was the best yet.
I was there for two hours, primarily in Cascades and Linville Falls . Both venues were WONDERFUL!!! And the volunteers were helpful, and the whole atmosphere was festive! It was great to see so many faculty as well as students and community members!
Make the event a week long and don't necessarily make more events, just spread them out so participants don't have to choose which they would like to attend; they can just go to all of them.
I think that you just need to add more. Maybe extend the activities and if it is nice hold outdoor workshops and presentations.
There was so much great stuff going on that I didn't get to see everything that I wanted to, extending the length of the celebration to like two days would be great, that way I wouldn't have to miss stuff I wanted to see.
Think you did an absolutely fabulous job with this celebration...excellent programming, good publicity, great community and campus appeal, superior food, and fantastic involvement.
